Daruma Dolls
This game was made as part of Brackeys Game Jam 2025.1
The theme of the Game Jam was "Nothing can go wrong..."
This immediately made me think of working in a factory, where defective products quietly slip through unnoticed. That’s when the idea for the game came to me.
Read below for instructions on how to play!

P.S. I FORGOT ABOUT THE GAME JAM AND STARTED QUITE LATE. I ONLY SPENT AROUND 13-15 HOURS ON IT, BUT I LOVE THIS IDEA. SO PLEASE DO CHECK IT OUT ONCE AGAIN AFTER THE GAMEJAM RESULTS IF YOU'RE INTERESTED.
I couldn't implement one of the features where I wanted to do something when you don't break a "defective" doll. So at present, you get a free pass at it and it only affects your time.
While you can play this game on a phone (Tapping instead of mouse clicks), it's not ideal to play it that way.

Holy this game is hard but I love the concept! Maybe it could start out slower and gradually get faster? Very neat game.
Thanks. Someone else pointed that out and I believe I need to low it down, its already at the lowest ideal speed for the game engine but it will be choppy if I go lower than this, but I will figure out something.
Thanks for playing :)
I love this idea but found it quite tough - need to work on my spot the difference skills!
Thank you for playing!
The dolls are almost identical so I get that! I have some plans to make the game a bit easier in the beginning and slowly make it harder. Hopefully it works out!
Wow, i didn't expect to see a game made in Pico-8 haha. Fun and hard litte game, great job!
Thank you!
This is a really cool game. I really like the sound effects and the overall game juice. I think you got a really fun game loop. If you will continue working on the game, I would add some sort of shop so you can use the money you gain. Overall, I really like the concept and sound / art.
Thank you for your kind words! It's very encouraging! My original plan was to include a shop but again time restrictions and I've started very late!
As for the shop, I was planning on adding new Daruma dolls with new expressions and colors! So yes, I would try to implement that in a future update.
I likeeee the art style and sound design. The gameplay was unique too, feels like discovering old NES game. But probably it was nightime irl i couldn't focus on finding the bad daruma lol
Thanks for playing! I started working on it pretty late, I plan on adding some extra features later on: more variations, colors, etc.
Amazing, Can't wait :D
Very cute and fun game! I can imagine difficulty going up by a lot if you added a penalty for not breaking defective dolls.
Yup, but unfortunately, I could not find time to work on it, so that will be a future update. Thanks for playing :)
